Crypto Taxation

Crypto is not a box to tick on a return. Each transaction must be found across exchanges and wallets, priced on its day, matched to its cost basis and reconciled with the forms the IRS now receives. We rebuild that history transaction by transaction, including years of records that other firms turned away.

Every trade, swap and reward is a taxable event. We trace them all.

Trading and investing

Sales, coin-to-coin swaps and payments in crypto, across every exchange and wallet you used. Cost basis tracked wallet by wallet, as the IRS requires since 2025, and matched to your 1099-DA so you pay tax only on the real gain.

Income from crypto

Staking, mining, airdrops, DeFi yield, NFTs and getting paid in crypto. Each reward is income at its value on the day you received it, and becomes cost basis for later. We report it on the right schedule, business or personal.

Rebuilding the past

Years without records, closed exchanges, lost wallets, returns filed without the crypto. We reconstruct the history from exports and on-chain data, amend the years that need it and answer the IRS letters that follow.

Questions we hear

Do I have to report my crypto?

Yes. Form 1040 asks every taxpayer about digital assets. Selling, trading one coin for another and paying with crypto are all taxable events. Moving coins between your own wallets is not.

I received a Form 1099-DA. What is it?

Starting with sales in 2025, crypto brokers must report your gross proceeds to the IRS on Form 1099-DA. Cost basis reporting starts for coins bought in 2026 and later. We match the form to your records so you pay tax only on your real gain.

I used many exchanges and wallets and lost track. Can you help?

Yes. We rebuild your history from exchange exports and wallet addresses, find your cost basis and prepare Form 8949. We also fix prior years when they were reported wrong.

Are staking and mining rewards taxable?

Yes. Rewards are income at their market value on the day you receive them. When you sell them later, you have a gain or loss on top of that.
